We all have to work so we might as well have fun at work, right? If going to work is routine, uneventful, boring then it becomes something you don't look forward to. That can lead to burnout, low productivity, and even health problems. Here are six ways to have more fun at work.
Depending on your work situation, many of these may require the approval of your manager or supervisor. So keep that in mind.
1. If there is an employee suggestion program in place use it. Be creative and make suggestions on things you would like to see changed or improved upon. Many employees don't use this channel and it can be so helpful for making improvement in the work place. If there is no employee suggestion program in place, take action to start one. When employees are empowered to be a part of making positive change in the workplace all sorts of great things happen.
2. Schedule regular employee-get-togethers. This will be something people look forward to and that is fun. You can even put together an office or company party outside of the normal work place setting, which is more work, but can be great fun for everyone and will bond employees together.
3. Decorate your work station. If you make your work station fun and enjoyable you will have more fun at work. To the extent that your supervisor will allow bring in objects, pictures mementos that make your workstation feel more like a place you want to spend time at each day.
4. Similarly, have a bring kids to work day can be great fun for employees and their kids. Just make sure the workplace is safe for the kids to be a part of for the day.

6. Relax the dress code once a week or once per month. Having a day when employees can come to work dressed more casually than usual is often something that is looked forward to.
I have experienced all these suggestions and find that my workers not only started enjoying their work but I have observed them more energetic and productive.
